The starting point

In answer to the often asked question of how the birds are made, here's a picture of the process at mid-stage. I layer coils of clay one on top of each other to create the basic shape, and join them together using a potters knife on the inner surface. Once the overall shape is achieved I start working on the outer surface, shaping and moulding by hand until the desired shape is achieved. Hope this is helpful.
